Dearest Sue, So true! Trying to "forget" how we practiced yesterday, last week, or a couple of years ago is a practice in itself. To be able to truly open to the possibilities in this moment as well as seeing and accepting the challenges we are experience now is the root practice of mindfulness.

Lisa, thank you for bringing back those delightful...and sneaky....memories. Take a photo of y'all baking. I'd love to see it. And yes to Larchmont someday :-)
Merry merry to your family.

PS Rebecca finally cut the recipe down to one quarter this year. It was soooooo much easier to deal with. When we made the full recipe, we layered the cookies between sheets of wax paper in a huge pot and stored them in the garage. But I do remember sneaking into the cold room to snitch a couple when we were growing up. Added a touch of mystery and excitement to the anise cookie aura!

Dearest old friend!

Merry Christmas. Here I am again for the recipe and I cannot wait to make the cookies tomorrow with Charlotte now 13- about 4 years older than when we started making those anise cookies EVERY Christmas at the Kieber's - your home. Do you remember the huge cardboard bins which were huge and stood in a room without heat or was it on the porch? Sadly we were not really allowed to eat the cookies until Christmas so we had to sneak everyday handfuls. Wonderful delicious memories. Thinking of you all and wishing you a very Merry Christmas with your family and Rabi my other dear dear friend. We have so many stories to share. You both have to come and stay with us in Larchmont some day. Love to Mike too. Yours, Lisa

<ul>
I just love the discussion about breath and not comparing last time you went into the pose with this time. We all tend to compare and think today should always be better than yesterday, when in fact, other things may be involved.

Gail, Ahh, you brought up the courage it takes to practice tonglen. You are soooo right. When I teach this practice, students often find it very difficult and even frightening. But as we practice we find our hearts actually growing larger. We can grow our compassion because we don't get so undone by the pain. We grow our ability to deal with more and more.

And yes, now is a good time to start. I will say some tonglen for your heart to heal as well. Love to you, carolyn

Thanks Natalie. Sounds as if you have been practicing yoga for a while yourself. Would love to hear your thoughts of what yoga means to you.
